Welcome back, my fellow Netflix fans! The Christmas movies are flooding the streaming site’s recommendations again, so grab your popcorn & check out these new titles.

Welcome back, my fellow Netflix fans! The holidays are around the corner, and I bet you’re looking forward to some Christmas themed entertainment. The holly-jolly movies have been flooding the streaming site’s recommendations again.

I know you’ll be returning to your favorite holiday classics on there. Of course, there are plenty of new movies being released this year as well. Here, I will discuss which ones you should look forward to and are likely to add to your favorites’ list!

1. A Nonsense Christmas by Sabrina Carpenter

Popstar Sabrina Carpenter announces that on December 6th, her celebrity Christmas special will release on Netflix. Even though that’s all there is to the trailer on Netflix’s upcoming, I’m somewhat intrigued. What kind of entertaining surprises does she have in store?

Knowing who she is might help give us hints. Sabrina (25yrs. old) is an American singer and actress who recently gained popularity among Gen Z. She starred in Girl Meets World and Tall Girl.

On YouTube, Netflix provides more detailed trailers where we can see what her show will be like. We glimpse her performing concerts and doing comedy skits based on popular Christmas tales. A list of guests appears on screen, and if you know any of the names, get excited!

A Nonsense Christmas looks like it will very exciting and fun. If you want to know more about what kind of celebrity she is, or are already a fan of hers, I’d look forward to her debut on Netflix.

2. Mary

Did you think that we have enough Jesus birth stories? Well, you’re wrong. Welcome Mary to the platform, a two-hour film coming December 6. This historical movie will focus on Mary’s perspective as the chosen mother of the Messiah. Despite the joyous miracle happening inside her, there are a lot of real challenges she must endure.

The trailer reveals the misunderstanding that she went out of wedlock and people threatening her. She has to give birth in a barn and King Herod wants her baby dead. Yet, God always comes through to protect her. It appears that this movie will focus on humanizing her experience and adding historical drama.

I think this would be worth a watch, just to see how they execute the story. It has a lot of good potential and I hope it delivers the biblical message that it’s supposed to.

The link above shares a Bible teacher’s perspective on the movie’s potential and its historical accuracy. His opinion is not approving, but he holds out hope and promises a review after he watches it. I do agree with his opinion about the scene where Mary’s walking and holding her baby while Joseph is on the donkey or horse. It is not realistic at all.

Still, I recommend this if you love watching Bible stories acted out and seeing different interpretations of history.

3. That Christmas

That Christmas looks like a cute movie! It’s coming December 4, so make sure to put it in your reminder notifications! The setting focuses on a single town called Wellington-on-Sea. When a severe snowstorm blows through the town, the people (and Santa, apparently) face challenges to continuing their holiday plans.

There a lot of funny and serious shenanigans going on throughout the trailer that sell the excitement for this movie. The animation is also beautiful; I love the individuality of all the characters. It will be a fun new movie to enjoy with family on holiday movie night.

Ed Sheeran just announced that he produced one of the songs that will be in That Christmas! You can listen to the song ahead of time on Youtube. It is called “Under the Tree” and is really emotional.

The Netflix scenes and lyrics in this video give more of an idea of what the British animation will be about. It will touch on the solemn reality of the holidays not always being perfect, as some characters won’t get to see family because of severe storm delays. Furthermore, losing somebody that you love can be hard as you’re reminded of them during the season. Yet, let’s look at all the love around us and see who we can share our joy with in the meantime!

4. Our Little Secret

Our Little Secret is a more dramatic comedy for the adults to enjoy. Two exes discover that their new partners are siblings when they’re introduced at a family gathering. Uh oh! Now they need to keep their intimate past a secret while trying to enjoy Christmas with everybody. Will they succeed? Or what will become of their failure to?

I would hope that they succeed and accept being potential sibling-in-laws. Maybe they will love their new partners even more and have a decent Christmas. I can imagine the second-hand embarrassment if they were found out and it turned into a big drama.

Our Little Secret is released on Netflix and is currently the #1 in holiday movies. Therefore, it is very recommended that you watch this! Don’t forget to give a thumbs up underneath if you enjoyed it.

5. The Snow Sister

Next, the Snow Sister is currently #10 in top Netflix movies. The concept is that a bubbly girl who loves Christmas connects with the son of a grieving family and helps them heal during the holiday season.

The cool thing about this movie is that it is Norwegian, with local actors like Ole Steinkjer Oyen and Mudit Gupta, who are child actors. You can expect there to be some unique cultural aspects in the film. It was also filmed within Norway, giving us background glimpses of its beautiful landscape.

Personally, I love watching films from other cultures and seeing how they tackle themes in their own ways! I recommend this film to everybody; it looks very interesting. The emotional story of healing after losing a loved one will be definitely pull at our heart strings.
