Fans of The Princess Diaries rejoiced when they heard a third movie is in the works!

Disney is still hiding the details about the production, including its cast and plot members. And So, for now, we will have to remain patient and wait for news. Though what we do know is that this third sequel to its predecessors. Aaadrita Mukerji is also the one person who is behind penning the script.

The Princess Diaries 3: Julie Andrews is not likely to reprise her role as the queen

In an interview with Access Hollywood, the actress told the program host that her return as Clarisse Renaldi is “probably not going to be possible.” Here’s what she said:

“It was talked about very shortly after [the second sequel] came out, but it’s now how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run.”

It seems like she believes that there’s no story left to tell for the former queen of Genovia. However, we all are very excited to see her reprise her role! After all, the grandmother-granddaughter dynamic made the first two films a success. And our very own Mia Thermopolis would agree. Hathaway told ET that she’s “pulling for it” and would make it work in any way if Andrews wants to be involved.
