9-1-1 is back on election week, we have been here once before.
One of the biggest TV shows on prime-time television is premiering an episode where one could theorize that something big might happen. Fans assume there will be an inevitable near-death experience that Buck has to go through for Eddie and Buck to realize that there is something deeper and underlying between them. Something many fans have had to go through with a once big hit TV show, Supernatural.

The first time we see Buck and Eddie together, truly alone, is in Episode 6, “Confessions,” where Eddie allows himself to enjoy a beer with his best friend Buck, though not a word is spoken. Suppose anything, in the next episode, “Hotshots,” we get more unanswered questions and more Bobby and Athena.
Now, don’t get me wrong; having Angela Bassett as the star of this show is one of the many highlights that many enjoy about the series. However, they disregard all of the stories that they have built up for eight seasons. Then, introducing a new character who turns out to be someone Athena dislikes or trusts felt like a waste of an episode.
The Plot Device

For all the Buck-Tommy Fans, Tommy was a plot device to get Buck to realize that he’s always been bisexual. The whole episode was also odd because we see that Eddie is Buck’s object of desire throughout the whole episode, but I digress.
As a fan who constantly scrolls through TikTok and Twitter also known as X, I have considered many theories that many Twitter users like @vampirebuckley, Sam, and TikTok content personality, @Cuuhxleeb, better known as Mikko have stated because I agree with both of them. Not only was Tommy a plot device but Season 4’s Ana Flores. Before the network switched from Fox to ABC, the writers were setting up the plot line for Buddie.

It’s important to keep in mind that these are the few TV Shows on a network that go beyond the Netflix 10-episode mark. So we should have more information and episodes when it comes to our favorite ships Buddie, Henren, and Madney.
After the last episode aired we looked into what the next episode we could look forward to. From what many fans theorize the story in the trailer alludes to a possible kidnapping. Let’s hope nothing happens to Maddie and the baby. Although these are just fan theories, fingers crossed we get a cameo of some of Eddie’s friends from his past, possibly a better-executed jealousy storyline between Buck and Eddie
The Parallels
Many Buddie fans have been through the wringer rooting for Buddie, but that’s not because it’s something they’ve been waiting for since Season 2. It’s because most Buddie fans are fans of the once-hit TV Show Supernatural. Supernatural was the show in the 2000s, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki’s faces were posted everywhere, which took the industry by storm. That was until Misha Collins’ character was introduced.
The actors themselves have said that they’ve been playing the characters as queer coded even stating that they’ve always played the characters as bisexuals.

Queerbaiting
This has to be one of my favorite topics to cover regarding many ships in many fandom spaces. So I will try not to write this down like it is a college thesis because I become very analytical. I can also go on for eons about this topic so to begin I would like to break down the ships within these fandom spaces, I will try not to stray from the main ships entailed because this can get very messy very fast.
Dean and Castiel
Dean Winchester is one of the most three-dimensional characters I would argue written in the history of Television. Dean was the child of John and Mary Winchester who were hunters, until Mary was eviscerated on the ceiling of their house in the first episode sending Dean, John, and Sam on the road. Twenty years later Dean knocks on Sam’s dorm door claiming their dad is missing.
From then on Dean’s character went through multiple deaths and one of them landed him in hell. In hell, he was gripped by an angel from Heaven and raised. From then on they were cosmically connected.
“I’m the one who gripped you tight and raised you from Perdition.”
-Castiel, The CW’s Supernatural,
Season 04, Episode 01
“Lazarus Rising”
Buck and Eddie
Like Dean and Castiel they’ve had their taste of death as well. Time and time again Buck and Eddie have saved each other, from ladders, and pipes, even in a depression rut.
On a less deadly note, in the most recent season, eight, Buck believes he got sores from a prop he thought was just a prop, then finds out it was a real dead body. In this moment in Buck fashion, he deep dives into curses and haunted objects.

Typically in most relationships when a partner claims that they saw a ghost you either try to help them or rationalize, Tommy, Buck’s partner didn’t believe him and instead was condescending and made a mockery of the situation. Until the sores showed up.
When the sores showed up on Buck’s face, Eddie came to the rescue with a recurring prop of his own, the medic bag. In the first episodes of season eight, we see Eddie carrying around a medic bag and it’s used not only once but on multiple occasions to forward his plot.

This moment fed the fandom, me included. I felt like we were going in the right direction regarding the relationship between Buck and Eddie. The show has been on since 2018 and in season two we were introduced to Edmundo Diaz aka Eddie Diaz, ever since Buck has been infatuated with Eddie and his family.
One of the greatest if not the best season beginnings was Season 3, episode 2 began with Buck and Christopher on the Santa Monica pier only for a giant tsunami to destroy it sending Buck and Christoper in different directions in Los Angeles. starting the search for Christopher only for all hope to be lost when day turns to night and Chris can no longer be found. Only, for Chris to be found at the treatment station.

The Relationship Between Castiel and Dean
Castiel, an angel from Heaven, went down into the deepest depths of hell and pulled Dean Winchester out. Castiel’s impression was forever imprinted onto Dean. Bringing along this character redefined relationships for Dean in a way that made them complicated yet meaningful.
Dean was constantly in a state of trying to be the best big brother for Sam, he felt unappreciated at most times. When Castiel was introduced we saw the breakdown of both of their characters. We saw how Castiel saw Dean and all of his humanity, a pinnacle of what humanity should be. He was flawed but loving, and that was Dean Winchester, Castiel loved him for that.
Buddie and Destiel: Buck and Eddie, Dean and Castiel
Castiel and Dean are very much like Buck and Eddie in terms of comparing and contrasting. They are constantly raising each other from the deepest and darkest circles. They both see each other as completely flawed human beings. Though, they also see each other as the love they give to their families and friends. One could not exist without the other.
