The Neighborhood is CBC‘s popular American sitcom that follows a white Midwestern family adjusting to a predominantly black neighborhood. The show made its debut on October 1, 2018, and was renewed for its fifth season In January 2022. Jim Reynolds creates it. Despite the show being initially called racist, the plot turned out to be a light comedy. It is still rated below average by viewers stating that it is poorly written and lacks appreciated cultural commentary.
The plot focuses on Dave Johnson, the “nicest guy in the Midwest”, who moves his white family into a rugged, predominantly African American neighborhood in L.A. Everyone except their new next-door neighbor Calvin Butler didn’t appreciate his moves. This family is the only white family in this neighborhood, and their race is a huge issue. The district prefers to have a safe environment for themselves and have successful black families in their community.
The fifth season premiered on September 19, 2022, and its tenth episode is scheduled to be released on January 16, 2023. It is titled “Welcome to the Getaway” and is directed by Mark Cendrowski. In this episode, we will see Calvin and Tina decide to go on their honeymoon to Madrid, and this will be their first official honeymoon which they never had. In turn, Dave and Gemma, along with Malcolm and Marty, on a surprise planned for Calvin’s return.
