It seems we get to take the red pill once again and truly see how far this rabbit-hole goes.

It was recently announced that The Matrix franchise will be hitting the silver screen soon enough. On board with original cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, filming is set to begin in early 2020. In addition to the original cast, Lana Wachowski will be returning to direct the fourth chapter.

Warner Bros. chairman, Toby Emmerich, broke the news to Variety:

We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana.

Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.

Wachowski was joined by Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell to write the script and worked with Grant Hill to produce the picture.

Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.

The Matrix had its 20th anniversary this year and is in select AMC theaters this month.
