The plot of the movie is about parents who struggle to find justice for their two children who died due to a fire at the cinema in South Delhi.
Is it based on a true story?
The show is a Netflix original and is based on actual events. This seven-episode series shows the incident of June 1997, when a fire incident happened at Uphaar Cinema in South Delhi at around 3 p.m. during the screening of the movie Border. The Fire or the blast took lives 59 people, including Neelam and Shekhar’s two kids. Apart from the injured, there were more than 100 who were found injured in that fire incident. Later the investigation proved that the building had several Fire safety violations.
As per the statements of India Times, it took more than 20 years for the parents to get justice for their children. After years of hearing and legal-battle, the real estate agent who owned the theatre was sentenced to seven years in prison on November 21.
The incident left people in shock, and for a few months, the audience left the theatre due to the fear of Fire and blasts during the Border movie.
