On December 3rd in Brazil a new Christmas comedy special was released. The punchline? Jesus is gay.
The show tittle is The First Temptation of Christ and features Jesus taking home his friend Orlando to celebrate his birthday. Turns out Orlando is much more than a friend, if you know what I mean.
The special features a popular comedy group from Youtube, Porta dos Fundos, who built their careers off the value of self expression.

After the show went live over 1.4 million signatures by Christians were signed to petition the show be taken down. Even the President of Brazil’s son chimed in claiming that he supports self expression, but offending almost the whole population seems a bit overkill.
Those who hold Christianity close to their hearts thought this film was mortifying. It has been called ‘blasphemous, vulgar, and disrespectful’ by a bishop of Pernambuco.
Turns out the comedy group has also made a short film about Jesus’s disciples looking for him after a wild night out drinking. This type of comedy seems to be their niche.
It is a necessary part of human life and existence to be able to reflect and laugh at ourselves. Religion is something that, back in the day was never contested, but with modern society came new questions.
Was Jesus gay or bi? Was he black? Did he even exist at all? Or did we just make him up to create a scapegoat for all the missing answers and uncertainty about the world. All I know is that living without he ability to be subjective about your own beliefs is a fast track to idiotic oblivion.
