A New Trailer Has Dropped for Serial Docuseries on the ‘Golden State Killer’

True crime lovers rejoice!

With the release of Tiger King being such a hit, the consumption of docu-series is a popular pastime. Especially considering that’s one of the few viable ways of entertaining ourselves at the moment.

Lately, the public seems to be on a true crime kick. And people who love true crime, also have an avid interest in serial killer content, too. Serial killers are as fascinating as they are monstrous. One of the less infamous serial killers went by the moniker “Golden State Killer”. HBO is set to release a six-part docu-series about him on June 28th. Its trailer was released earlier this week.

More specifically, this series follows the journey of true crime writer, Michelle McNamara, as she attempted to uncover the identity of the Golden State Killer. In fact, the series is called I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, which is the title of McNamara’s book about the killer. Over more than a decade (1974-1986), the Golden State Killer committed serial murder, serial rape, and serial burglaries throughout California. At first, his three crime sprees were believed to have been committed by different people, but they are now attributed to him.

In 2018, James DeAngelo was arrested for these crimes. Unfortunately, McNamara had died of an overdose in 2016, and was never able to identify the killer herself. In fact, McNamara’s book was finished by her fellow journalists, Paul Haynes and Billy Jensen, after her death. It was published posthumously in February of 2018, DeAngelo identified after the book had been released.
