The Internet Wants The Wiggles To Represent Australia For Eurovision 2023

All they’d need to do is play ‘Fruit Salad’ and they’d win.

After last week’s action-packed Eurovision Song Contest, speculation has already begun surrounding next year’s competition. One thing many people online can agree on: the Wiggles should be sent to represent Australia in 2023.

A Reddit user was the first to pose the idea, writing:

“After watching Eurovision, I believe we need an absolute icon to represent Australia next year at Eurovision.

“We should campaign to have the Wiggles perform at Eurovision next year.”

Who are the Wiggles?

The Wiggles, a beloved children’s music group from Australia are national (and international) icons to many. Their children’s TV shows have been watched and adored by many.

Known for their colored shirts and iconic songs such as “Fruit Salad” and “Hot Potato”, the Wiggles seem an ideal act for Eurovision. They’ve got the energy, the cultural significance, and the slight tinge of madness.

While the cast has changed over the years as original entertainers have gotten older, the four OG Wiggles are currently on a tour, in which they perform shows for adults, not children.

Many videos of this tour have gone viral. The shows, specifically catered to adults allow all grown-up fans to reminisce on the songs that made their childhood.

The four of them clearly have it in them to carry a big show—perfect for Eurovision.

How has the idea to send them to Eurovision spread?

After the initial Reddit post, others on social media have posted similar thoughts.

One user tweeted:

And another had this to say:

The Wiggles are iconically Australian—just consider how Robert Irwin (son of Aussie legend Steve Irwin) joined them on stage at a recent date, and you can see why so many think them the perfect group to represent the country.

Coming off the Wiggles’ win of Triple J’s Hottest Song of the Year in 2021, many think the they could take Australia all the way to win Eurovision for the first time.

Have the Wiggles responded?

Sadly, the Wiggles are yet to respond to the calls for their submission to Eurovision. I guess we’ll have to wait another year, and keep all our fingers crossed.

If you don’t want to wait a year to potentially see the Wiggles perform, you can catch them on their adult tour in the upcoming months.

Plus, you might see them headlining with Lil Nas X soon…

While children in the past thirty years have had the Wiggles, children in the 1960s seemed to have prophetic abilities. I’d still take the Wiggles.
