Along with the new trailer, Netflix has confirmed the new series of fan-favourite show Stranger Things will release in Summer 2022. This will be the show’s fourth season.
Netflix released a new trailer for the upcoming series on November 6th. This date is so called ‘Stranger Things Day,’ as on November 6th, 1983, Will Byers went missing, setting off the events that constituted the first season of the show.
This year, Netflix used the special date to release all the information we’ve been waiting for.
Season four of Stranger Things was initially planned to release much earlier. The third season came out in Summer 2019—there will be three years between the third and fourth seasons. However, due to the pandemic, filming had to be interrupted and pushed back.
Maybe it was this delay that made Netflix celebrate Stranger Things Day more than usual. On the day itself, Netflix set out an entire day of events.
Included in this day were pop-up shops, new merchandise and live fan experiences. All of these events culminated in the release of the newest trailer.
Netflix had already released three teaser trailers over the past few months. This newest one appears to be the last of four teasers, as it’s description says ‘004/004.’
What’s new in Hawkins for season four of Stranger Things?
The teaser hinted at some exciting things to look forward to in the new season. Eleven is in school, and with her new life, a whole host of new characters appear to be on the scene.
Alongside all our returning favourites, season 4 introduces us to Victor Creel (played by Robert Englund), who Netflix calls a ‘disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s’.
Alongside him, we’ll be introduced to Peter Ballard (played by Jamie Campbell-Bower), an orderly at said psychiatric hospital.
Over in Hawkins, we’ll meet Argyle (played by Eduardo Franco), who appears to be a new friend of Jonathan.
These new characters don’t give us too many hints about what the substance of the new series will be. However, we might get some clues from the episode titles, which have now been released.
There are set to be nine episodes in the new series, titles following one through nine as: ‘The Hellfire Club’, ‘Vecna’s Curse’, ‘The Monster And The Superhero’, ‘Dear Billy’, ‘The Nina Project’, ‘The Dive’, ‘The Massacre At Hawkins Lab’, ‘Papa’ and ‘The Piggyback’.
Summer 2022 can’t come soon enough!
