Executive producer of AD, Brian Gazer, reported that agreements in principle to salary demands with Netflix have been reached. The entirety of the cast has agreed to this, and all characters will be returning. Salary demands were the main barrier to production. Direction with the cast and crew can now move forward, however, since the demands have been met.

Gazer spoke with The Wrap and explained the show’s long awaited new season:

“I think we’re really close to pulling it off finally. All of the actors have agreed to do it, and I think they’ve agreed to their compensation structure. That’s been the hardest – it’s all hard…but it should be happening soon.”

FOX (the show’s original network) cancelled the series in 2006 after only three seasons. However, Netflix picked up the show and aired a fourth season in 2013. This move helped Netflix become one of the main – if not THE main – competitors in the business. The company demonstrated it was able to revitalize an esteemed show long after other major networks had abandoned it. Never one to give up, Netflix pumped new life back into the show.

FOX really had no idea what a highly acclaimed show they had on their hands. Since 2003, the series has won six Emmy Awards and even a Golden Globe. FOX, however, just could not deal with the continuously low ratings. Well, Netflix can laugh now seeing as they made the smart move in picking up the show. Best of all, die-hard Arrested Development fans can rejoice that they get yet another season of the beloved Bluths.
