2020 was a bad year for most things, but music wasn’t one of them. Here’s what we have to get us through the next (undoubtedly hard) 365 days.

Drake, Certified Lover Boy

Although well established, on August 14th Drake announced Drake announced that his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy was coming out in January. The date is yet to be confirmed exactly, but this album will be exactly what you need to stay in your feels this winter. If you aren’t already after this Christmas.

Celeste, Not Your Muse

New on the music scene this year, and winning the BRITS Rising Star award. The award has predicted the successful careers of  Jorja Smith, Adele, and Sam Smith. The singer herself has a jazzy, soulful, smokey tone to her voice, and her album offers a wide variety of songs, from the popular hit “Stop This Flame” to “Strange” which is more sultry, the album is still yet to be fully released, and we will be waiting.

Joy Crookes, Untitled

For fans of lyrics with plenty of meaning, Joy Crookes is for you. There isn’t a part of modern-day living that Joy Crookes has not sung about, from mental health struggles (Anyone But Me) to dating (Two-Nights) this woman is a master lyricist. Her album released is rumored for this year, and although she has been tight-lipped so far it is tipped to come out mid-2021.

Rhianna, R9

Rhianna has been teasing us for years following the release of her most recent album Anti. Fans have tried to put pressure on her, but Rhianna is clear she will release it when she wants to release it. I don’t think I have to introduce her, but if you haven’t listened to the masterpiece that is Anti already, you better rush over to Spotify and put that album on repeat.

Travis Scott, Utopia

After the success of Astroworld, Travis Scott’s album bar has been set high. The tracklist, concept, and name have all been released, and if multiple publications are to be believed the album should be dropping in February or March. Expect spacey beats and songs which could be multiple tracks like SICKO MODE.

Clairo, Untitled

Clairo, a singer-songwriter from Atlanta, has risen to fame this year with her debut album Immunity, which received critical acclaim. Clairo has teased her new album with multiple tweets, such as the one below. Look forward to a honey-like album that will provide you with lots to put on your chill playlist.

SZA, Untitled

On Kerwin Frost’s youtube channel, SZA claimed her new album is coming “Soon as F**k”. Let’s hope so because if it’s anything like her debut album CTRL, which is food-for-your soul, then it will be solidly on repeat when it comes out this coming year.

That’s the end of the round-up! Let me know if I have missed any in the comments below, and if you’re specifically here for Hip-Hop check out the best new releases here.
