Grimes became famous for her edgy, alternative image and catchy electronic music. This fame has lead her to the decision that she no longer wants to be “Grimes” as it is too limiting on the boundaries of her new music and message to the world. Apparently, she is planning to legally change her name from Clair to “C” which is the symbol that resembles the speed of light, a decision encouraged by her current boyfriend Elon Musk.

Her upcoming album Miss_Anthropocene is said to be a concept album about “the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world”. Apparently Grimes just wasn’t cutting it for this new take on the beauty that comes along with the end of the world.

Elon Musk and Grimes have been criticized from the moment they debuted their relationship to the world at the 2018 Met Gala. In a recent interview it seemed the musician had mixed feelings about Musk. In response to being asked about him she groaned followed quickly by saying “Don’t tell him I groaned just now. I groaned out of, I don’t know, feminism. I mean, he’s a super-interesting godd*mn person.” Moments later Grimes switched gears by saying “Look, I love him. He’s Great”.

Obviously there are a lot of questions surrounding Grimes right now regarding her name, her identity, her relationship, and even her political views on climate change and how she’s channeling them into a demon space queen. Im sure new questions will arise as it seems she changes her mind faster than speed of light, how fitting.
