Cardi B Video Brings Attention To Controversial Past

“I have a past that I can’t change we all do.”

While I am not the biggest Cardi B fan in the world, obviously I am familiar with how she has taken the world by storm.

Born and raised in The Bronx, New York City, she has become famous as an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Known for being extremely real with her fans and the public in general, she exemplifies a young woman who doesn’t give a single care as to what anyone has to say about her.

In a recent viral video that is circulating the internet, she defends herself against “haters” saying she has worked too hard for her success to be criticized against while saying she stripped, took men to hotels for sex, drugged them and robbed them because she had to in order to make a living.

As a young woman who has stated she grew up in the streets, she had to play with the cards that she was dealt. She became a product of her environment, earning a living as a stripper for example, and so on.

In a society where women are beginning to speak up about harassment and sexual actions taking place without warrant, it is easy to see why everyone is backlashing against the famous rapper for her past actions.

In a recent Instagram post Cardi B states, “I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options. I was blessed to have been able to rise from that but so many women have not. Whether or not they were poor choices at the time I did what I had to do to survive.” Later stating, “I have a past that I can’t change we all do.” Cardi is in no way glorifying what her actions were, but she does admit that she has changed from the person that she used to be. These actions, good or bad, have helped shape her into the woman who we all listen to and love today.

I am in no position to claim that Cardi B is wrong or right by her past actions, because like I said earlier, in today’s world, this is definitely a sensitive subject. So how much is too much? And how much of a blind eye can we turn against these types of situations until everyone can be held accountable?
