The first trailer for Indy’s final outing has caused quite a stir on social media. The main debate doesn’t really involve the plot or the characters, but rather the actors. Specifically, Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones.

While plenty of people are very excited for him to come back into the role, many aren’t. Many think that Harrison Ford is simply too old to play the character. Harrison Ford is 80 years old, and people are worrying that the movie might not be able to give the action the other movies did so well. The movie isn’t out yet, and there might be a couple of ways to work around it.

The Titular Topic of Time Travel

As the trailer reveals, Time Travel is a major element of the movie. The movie trailer sets up the concept that Indy is going back and forth from different eras in time. Most importantly, Indiana Jones seems to be older and younger throughout the trailer. This is a key detail, as the whole movie focuses on this concept from what it seems. The titular Dial of Destiny might not just be able to take someone back in time, but decrease their age as well. Safe to say, time travel is going to be a big factor in the film.

How packed will the action be?

The trailer has an abundance of action, which is important. After all, if the last Indiana Jones movie didn’t have some decent action, then what are we doing wrong as a society? The trailer does contain action, but most of it is about objects Indy is on, rather than Indy himself. There are two big scenes to focus on, the car chase scene and the 1940s scene. They contain an older Indiana Jones in big action set pieces, but not moving a ton throughout it. In the car chase scene, he’s just kicking around and holding out his hand. In the horse chase sequences, he’s just riding a horse. He seems to just be a stationary piece in the big scenes, with other actors just moving around him.

Is the Movie Doomed?

The movie isn’t doomed, after all, there is only one trailer to go off of. It’s safe to say the movie isn’t looking good in terms of the lead. Harrison Ford is a very talented actor, and this performance is something he can’t really control. He’s 80 years old, and he obviously can’t perform the same way he did in the 1980s, or even in 2008 when Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came out. This isn’t his fault, and in all the non-action scenes we see in the trailer, he’s doing a good job. He just has the misfortune of not being able to turn the back the dial in real life, as he can in this movie.
