Emily in Paris mainly focuses on Emily Cooper while she tries to balance work, friends, and romance while living in Paris. Gabriel, Emily’s love interest, gets a bigger storyline this season. Viewers get to see more of him since his restaurant has become famous amongst Parisians. We hear a lot about a Michelin star in Emily in Paris season 3.
Gabriel states that to get a Michelin star, a restaurant’s food needs to be of excellent quality all the time, and the chef has to express their personality through their cuisine. A chef can then only hope that when some Michelin inspector comes to try their food, they get impressed enough to give out the prestigious award. A restaurant can’t change the way they do things after getting that star, either. That same quality of food and service must be maintained to keep that star.
It’s a long process to earn a Michelin star. Different inspectors visit the restaurant to evaluate the quality of the food. This is done to make sure a restaurant always provides outstanding cooking. According to the Michelin Guide, once several inspectors have visited a restaurant and tried its food, they jointly discuss their experiences before making a decision.
This can be a bit stressful for chefs and their employees because they must consistently be on their toes. However a Michelin star is a highly coveted award in the culinary arts world, so the inspectors don’t want to give it to just anybody.
