12 Moments in 2022 That Really Made Us Say OMG!

Let’s take a look at some of the showbiz moments that have been added to the wall of fame in 2022.

Wow! Just like that, we find ourselves at the end of another year. It’s safe to say that all the months have completely blurred into one! However, there is no doubt that within the showbiz world iconic and memorable incidents occurred. Let’s take a look at some of the moments from 2022 that have been added to the wall of fame.

Now, there are so many funny and awkward memories from 2022 that I’ve decided to break them down into a sort of highlight calendar. I wonder how many of these you will remember. Which celebrities dominated the headlines in 2022?

January

Meat Loaf died on the 20th of January 2022.

At the age of 74, Meat Loaf died. Famous for his Bat out of Hell albums died at the beginning of this year.

February

Kanye West calls out Kim Kardashian for allowing their eldest daughter to be on TikTok… awkward.

Since their split in 2021, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have been navigating co-parenting. In another public blow, Kanye West posted on his Instagram saying “since this is my first divorce I need to know what to do about my daughter being put on TikTok against my will”. Ouch. That’s a bit of an attack!

Kardashian returned insisting that “I wish to handle all matters regarding our children privately”.

March

Will Smith slaps Chris Rock

Who remembers this? I certainly do and I would go as far as to say it is one of the most dramatic showbiz moments of the year. After an ongoing battle amongst Hollywood for most of 2022, the pair are still not speaking. Smith has been banned from the Oscars and all other Academy events for 10 years. Whether Team Rock or Team Smith, this slap is something that will live on for decades.

April

Johnny Depp’s deformation trial began against Amber Heard.

The trial began in Virginia, America, and 6 weeks of turbulent court appearances and media storms followed. This has got to be one of the most public court cases in history.

May

Harry Styles releases Harry’s House.

With over 1.5 million cumulative streams on Spotify, this album caused a storm. Harry Styles really is a national treasure.

June

Paul McCartney headlines Glastonbury.

Arguably this was one of the most memorable performances of the year. Pop superstar Paul McCartney performed to a crowd of more than 100,000 people at this year’s Glastonbury. McCartney was joined by Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl. Also, he sang a duet with his old bandmate John Lennon using special effects. Wow! That’s one way to end your music career!

July

The Wagatha Christie Case… oops!

Rebekah Vardy V Coleen Rooney. The Wags take on the courtroom. his trial was the end of an ongoing dispute from 2019 when Rooney accused Vardy of leaking posts from her private Instagram to the tabloid The Sun.

August

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez tie the knot (again).

Following an intimate ceremony in July, Jennifer Lopez and her husband Ben Affleck get married in front of the A-listers. I’d have loved to have been at that wedding! Imagine.

September

David Beckham queues for 13 hours to pay his respects to the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II died on the 8th of September 2022. Professional footballer David Beckham joined the 4-mile queue at Tower Bridge to pay his respects. This earnt a lot of kudos from his fans.

October

James Corden was banned and then unbanned from a restaurant.

New York restaurant Balthazar publicly banned TV Host James Cordon saying he’d been ‘extremely nasty’ to staff. Keith McNally, the owner of the restaurant, released an Instagram post.

In a later post, McNally lifted the ban on Corden after he apologized profusely. Nonetheless, it is a moment that has gone unmissed within the showbiz world.

November

MP Matt Hancock makes it to the final of I’m a Celebrity.

As a still-serving MP in his contingency, former health secretary Matt Hancock was one of this year’s shock I’m a Celeb contestants. Causing an uproar on social media, Hancock somehow made it to the final 3. Is this because the public wanted to see him suffer or, as some suggested, did people start to warm to him as a person? That is an endless debate and one that will never be settled. What is clear is that this was one of the most surreal ‘what has happened to the world’ moments.

December

Harry and Meghan is released on Netflix.

A long-awaited but also unexpected series came to Netflix. Giving the royals a platform to share their true story, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex released a 6-part documentary. Discussing the inner workings of the royal family as well as the devastating impact of paparazzi, the couple opened their lives up to the public. I don’t think anyone expected this documentary this year!

All in all, it’s been a pretty busy year in the world of Showbiz! I wonder what next year will have to offer!
