The Mr Bean and Johnny English actor, Rowan Atkinson, is rumoured to be taking up a very different role – Hitler.

Peaky Blinders is known for its star-studded cast, with Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomons, Cillian Murphy as Tom Shelby, and Helen McCrory as Polly Gray. Rowan Atkinson will be an attractive addition to the list.

The rumours were reported in The Express Tribune on Thursday. They wrote:

The actor’s name had been repeatedly coming up in the series wherever Hitler has been mentioned. However, nothing has been confirmed by the makers or the cast of the show.

Watchers of the show will remember that series 5 ended on a huge cliffhanger. The director of the top Netflix series told Digital Spy: “It picks up directly. So, the very first image you will see will be back in that field.” He added, “Tommy, with a gun to his head. Then, we will move on from there, we resolve that amazing moment – it’s great.”

The show also ended last series with an introduction to Oswald Mosley, played by yet another renowned actor – Sam Claflin. This, along with the Hitler talk, could suggest that the Shelbys are about to encounter fascism.

The rumours are, however, exactly that – just rumours. Although, we can definitely see Rowan Atkinson pulling off the role.

Unfortunately, thanks to the pandemic, we might not be seeing a moustache-wearing Mr Bean or series 6 for a very long time as filming still cannot go ahead.

We wonder how Rowan Atkinson will go to pull off the role, with Cillian Murphy doing this.
