Christmas Shopping Stressing You Out? Try Stroking a Guy’s Beard to De-Stress You…

Does it include Santa Claus?

We just don’t know who this is even better for – the unsuspecting shoppers are given the chance to stroke a random guy’s beard, or the bearded guy’s getting paid £30 to sit there and do nothing.

2017 has been a weird year. So why not end it on an equally as weird note? You can now take time out of your busy day of Christmas shopping to stroke a man’s beard. You might ask, why on earth would I want to do this? (unless you have some kind of beard fetish). Well, to be completely honest- I wondered the same.

The idea goes that stroking a man’s beard releases oxytocin: known as the ‘love’ hormone.

‘Oxytocin is a hormone and a neurotransmitter that is involved in childbirth and breast-feeding. It is also associated with empathy, trust, sexual activity, and relationship-building.’

Medical News Today

Don’t worry, this isn’t about getting it on with some random bearded man in the shopping center in front of the kids. The idea, set up by the company Mo Bros, is that the calming process of stroking the soft beard will release oxytocin, and help people to relax and feel happy.

The strange activity comes at a price- £5 a go. However, all of the proceeds go to charity. On MoBros official website, they state that ideal candidates must have a beard at least two inches thick, but that: Men with longer Santa-esque beards are preferred.’ The idea is that people love stroking soft animals, or soft cushions. Animals would be too much hassle to have to hang around in a shopping center, and cushions are pretty damn boring. So, the opportunity to stroke a man’s well-groomed, fluffy beard is the perfect solution.

An ideal situation for any bearded man who’s struggling to find a direction in life. £30 an hour is so good for doing practically nothing, I (a female) am considering just growing a beard myself so I can apply for this job.

It’s certainly an innovative way of spreading Christmas love and joy.
