This Edgy Piece Of Photography Depicts A Couple Vacuum-Packed Together

Only in Japan.

This edgy photographer decides to capture the intensity of love by showing a couple who are quite literally vacuum-packed together.

Photography is evolving in recent times. Sometimes its meaning is very clear, but usually rather more abstract and ambitious. Photographer Haruhiko Kawaguchi has created a new series known as ‘flesh love’. This photography project explores the intimacy of love and aims to be a very literal representation of what love is. The process of his photography involves vacuum-packing young Tokyo couples together.

On the one hand, the photography shows the closeness and intimacy of love. On the other hand, you might say it shows that love can be suffocating and damaging- and you end up feeling trapped.

‘Flesh Love Returns Men and women are attracted to each other and try to become one. This fundamental desire carries an energy that affects all matter in the world. I wonder what is the reason we have to make such an effort to become one. Possibly we were originally one. Since I believe this, I intend to visualize this power of love by adhering and unifying couples. The closer the distance between them, the stronger the power.’

It’s bizarre to say the least. But also beautiful in a way, depending how you look at it.
