“Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it.” -Charles Dudley Warner. That’s right, nobody… until now. Hurricane Irma is in for it when these Floridians get their guns out.
Never underestimate the power of the internet. A few days ago, a statement was released by the sheriff of Pasco, Florida, addressing a concern about a Facebook event called “Shoot at Hurricane Irma.” This event would be considered extremely dangerous, and citizens in the area have been advised not to shoot at the storm, for the reason that the bullets would come back and cause serious injury, or death.
The event was started by Florida resident Ryon Edwards, who created it sarcastically out of “a combination of stress and boredom.” It all seemed like a harmless joke that Ryon had started with his friend Zeke Murphy, never intended to be taken seriously by anyone — including its own creators — until they realized how many people were “interested” in joining the event —- about 85,000.
The event was originally set to take place on September 10th, at 10 am. Around 11 pm on September 9th, however, the Pasco sheriff posted the following Tweet in response to the event:
“To clarify, DO NOT shoot weapons @ #Irma You won’t make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effects.”

Edwards has since admitted that he never intended for the event to be taken seriously. I can only hope that this is true, considering the event’s description says:
“YO SO THIS GOOFY LOOKING WINDY HEADASS NAMED IRMA SAID THEY PULLING UP ON US, LETS SHOW IRMA THAT WE SHOOT FIRST .”
Plenty of people are boarding up their homes and trying to evacuate before the hurricane gets them — Florida is currently experiencing, what is being called the largest mass evacuation due to a hurricane in American history — but according to this christian conspiracy theorist, it will be hard to escape these natural disasters no matter where on the planet we go.
