Donald Trump Nearly Played The President In ‘Sharknado 3’

Missed opportunity.

I know what you’re thinking: There are three ‘Sharknado’ movies?!

In fact, there are now four films in the franchise, with a fifth on the way. And back in 2015, Donald Trump was in talks to star as the United States President in ‘Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!’

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Trump wasn’t even their first choice; the producers were set on Sarah Palin, but negotiations didn’t work out.

Following this disappointment, ‘Sharknado’ front man Ian Ziering turned to Donald Trump as a possible replacement, as the actor had gotten to know Trump on ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’

Trump was apparently “thrilled to be asked” and accepted the role, but he quickly became swept up in his actual bid for the presidency, forcing the ‘Sharknado’ producers to move on.

The production company Asylum quickly found a more than adequate replacement in billionaire and ‘Shark Tank’ star Mark Cuban.

After hearing this news, Trump was reportedly furious, and his lawyer threatened to sue and shut down the film’s production.

Thankfully, this turned out to be one of Trump’s many empty threats, and the Sharknado franchise has continues to thrive.

Still, I’m sure many of us would have preferred fictional President Trump over the real one. And I’m guessing Trump might have fared better dealing with shark-filled tornadoes than he has with healthcare or the environment.

In Trump-related news, the Commander-in-chief recently joked about adding his face to Mount Rushmore.
