Colorized Photos Bring 1890s Japan To Life

Journey back in time.

As far as internet trends go, colorized photos has to be one of the coolest.

And this newest set is no exception. The colorized photos, first taken by Tamotsu Enami around the year 1895, capture the life and leisure of Japan during the late Meiji Period.

The photos were later colorized not on Photoshop or other image-changing software, but by hand with watercolor paints. That’s serious dedication.

And here’s more of T. Enami’s photographs, though these ones are not colorized. Still, they are an incredible sight, providing an intriguing look into this past culture.
